The following are the code of conduct we expect all players to abide by. When joining this club, or booking a court as a nonmember, you confirm that you will abide by these rules.
If you wish to lodge a complaint regarding the actions of any player contrary to these rule, please contact a member of the committee. Investigation and possible sanctions are outlined in our club constitution.
Balrothery Tennis Club - Code of Conduct & Court Etiquette
➢ Play fairly and have fun.
➢ Treat the Club as you would your own property and take responsibility to
ensure its continued success.
➢ Behave in a manner that avoids bringing Balrothery Tennis Club and the game of tennis
into disrepute.
➢ Do not share passcode to the gates with anyone outside the club.
➢ Abide by the rules set down by the Club’s Committee in all Club or provincial events.
➢ Respect officials and accept their decisions.
➢ Courts should only be used for tennis.
➢ Use appropriate footwear.
➢ No food or gum on the courts.
➢ Good manners should be practiced at all times. Members should behave with
courtesy and consideration towards other players, and others on or near the courts.
➢ Don’t enter a court when a game is in progress if it is likely to cause
interference or distraction. Only do so when play has temporarily stopped.
➢ Respect opponents and always shake hands / touch racquets at the end of a match.
➢ Use best efforts in competitive matches.
➢ Refrain from the use of bad language, inappropriate gestures and ball / racquet abuse.
➢ Never use unfair or bullying tactics to gain advantage on or off the court.
➢ Never discriminate on the grounds of a person's gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation,
disability or religion.
➢ Report any misdemeanors and damage to the courts to the Club’s Committee.
➢ Breaking rules may warrant reprimand as per the Club’s Constitution.
➢ Pick up after yourself and close the gate behind you when you leave.
➢ Win with grace and lose with dignity.
